The best and worst events in 24 hours.

Well into the evening, it is now quarter to midnight, it has been a big eventful evening.

The day started by going to the pharmacy for an event that started on Tuesday, let's go back.

Tuesday morning we left Lubeck Germany around 6am and then got to the Airport after a separate minor event, then got the plane to Naples some 2000KM and 2hr and thirty minutes later. It wasn't until Tuesday night when Katie asked "where is your insulin?" when re realised that three weeks worth of my Diabetes medication was mistakenly left in the apartment fridge in Lubeck.

I was in a little trouble, with no way of getting the much-needed drugs from the fridge in Lubeck it was our first mission of Wednesday morning to go to the pharmacy and try to get some. Luckily I come prepared for most emergencies and this was one of them. I had my prescriptions. Travel tip #34 if you need medication, always carry your prescription, it helps.

So with them in hand, we were at the door as the pharmacy opened at 8am, and with some strange conversations, I was
able to request the needed insulin and be back on track for a continued normal glucose trip.  Hopefully, travel insurance will cover some of the 180 euro expense and I will have learnt a lesson, to write a list of things to check before checking out.

Next, we were still getting past that episode so we went back to the apartment for some rest and also booked some tickets to get into Sansevero Chapel and once again see the Veiled Christ. Travel tip #98 always pre-book tickets.  By having these pre-booked tickets we saved about 40 minutes queue time.

This visit we also got the audio guides and we spent over 40 minutes in the venue listening to the details of the statues and the creators of the impressive chapel. Unfortunately, photos aren't allowed inside the chapel, but go ahead and google 'veiled Christ' and see how beautiful it is.

Further on after this visit, it was time to have lunch, and there was only one option to have Pizza, as this is the birthplace of such a globalised meal.

The Pizzas were amazing.

Back to the apartment, we had time to cool off for 1 hour before it was on to the train for our evening, making jewellery by hand.  We booked the evening with Noemi and not knowing what to fully expect, knew it would be at least local. We messaged that we were on our way and she replied to say that they (Michel her husband) would collect us from the train station! Wow, already we were impressed, as this would save us a 1km walk in the hot afternoon.

What we booked was a 2hr 30 min session to hand-make jewellery, painting miniature tambourines and then attaching either a key chain or jewels to make a necklace.

However, the evening consisted of that and much more, laughter, conversation, learning about different cultures both ours and theirs. We were also very fortunate to be then offered to stay for dinner, which we accepted without hesitation.

Noemi cooked a wonderfull pasta with tomatoes garlic and olive oil, a dish which we will surely make at home, then we had tomato and buffalo mozzarella (freshly made today) with salt and olive oil and finally some local pastries with homemade coffee. They also showed us some tricks on the coffee-making too, which will be kept secret for now.

It was an amazing experience, something that couldn't be planned, cant be purchased and felt like we had known each other for all our lives. Around 10:30 pm Noemi's mother came home to whom we were introduced. Katie and I both were looking at the time, wondering what time the metro stopped, how we were going to get home, but in the end, were having so much fun we were planning to get a Taxi.

I gestured it was time for us to depart and we would like to offer some gratitude for their extra hospitality, but they would have none of it other than a handshake and a kiss on the cheek. Noemi then arranged a friend who did unofficial taxi work and would get us back into Naples, for only 5euro person. She made the call, he was available and we took the offer. Within 15 min we were back in the city.

What an amazing evening, probably the best this trip.  It is now 12:31 am.  I must get to bed. Buona Notte.
