More lovely Lubeck

With a first look at Lubeck yesterday, we decided to spend another day exploring this historical town. After catching up on some emails, banking and other online chores, we walked along the river to European Hansemuseum a museum dedicated to the city and how it was part of international trading for well over 800 years.

Of course, this museum had a lot to cover and way too much for me to spell out on a layman's blog, but we both come out saying it was one of, or if not the best museum we have been to. A standout for us was the tickets, on the entry they were scanned and the screen asked us our language, and what our interests were.  From here the ticket was scanned throughout the museum on panels, and screens.  It then displayed info in our language and also related to our interests.

The museum followed a path from room to room and some standouts were the rooms that were set up as if you were there. It covered how the city turned marshland into the land and built on it, how the plague affected all of Europe and how trade was performed hundreds of years ago across this impressive continent.

After the tour, we meandered our way across the island taking in sights like Heiligen-Geist-Hospital.  We also got lost in school grounds and for a while, couldn't find our way out.

Finally, after seeing a community Summer market in the streets we arrived at Quandt-Linie-Lübeck Holstentor- Terrassen.  This was a one-hour cruise around the rivers of the city and provided a full commentary - In German.

So what else could we do but sit back, order a beer and a wine and enjoy the view.

Now, as typing we have our windows opened on our second-floor apartment, as there is a jazz festival playing across the road.
.

Later we took a walk along the river's edge and had our dinner.
