Ich bin ein Berliner - J.F.K

Ich bin ein Berliner - I am a Berliner

What a city, what a history, today the first of four, has been more than we have hoped for.
In researching this stopover I was able to find a lot of information regarding WWI and WWII, however I've realised this is only a very short period in the Berlin history.

Our tour guide Alex from Berlin Walks was a full and complete World Book Encyclopedia on Berlin and Germany. We covered much ground and many sites during our four and a half tour through mostly the old East Berlin sector. This covered most of the main sights and also enforced the fact Berlin is not just about the World Wars.

Some highlights were
  • Palace Square (Scholssplatz)
  • New Wache
  • Bebelplatz (not the home of Justin Beiber)
  • Unter den Linden
  • Russian Embassy
  • Brandenberger Tor (Brandenberg Gate)
  • Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe
  • Location of Hitler's Bunker and his marriage and suicide
  • Checkpoint Charlie
