Do you have bubble wrap?

First off today was the time for the future, and I mean the future of photography.  We went to Twinkind and in one two hundredth of a second had our bodies scanned.

TwinKind proposes that in the future we will no longer be taking photos and looking at them on a flat surface like paper or a screen, they claim to have developed the future of still photography where your family portraits will come to life.

We walked in at our scheduled time, actually, let me go back just a little.....
This morning we put a lot of thought into our clothes knowing we were to be photographed by TwinKind and turned into a 3D figurine for the rest of our lives. For the first time on the trip i put on my jeans and a blue and white striped button up shirt and Katie a white and orange patterned shirt and jeans. We thought these would not date too much and would be good to look at in the future. Before the photo session we had a little breakfast at a local bakery across from our hotel, being as careful as we could neither of us spilt or dropped anything on our clothes.

It was only as we were walking down the street Katie noticed my shirt had collected some bird poo off the back of the chair, it was a large smear. There was nothing we could do to clean it so back to the hotel, to turn the suitcase upside down and find a clean shirt, (today was also laundry day so there was only one left). Thankfully the replacement shirt was ok and off we went.

The TwinKind process is very simple from the customer's point of view. We walked into the showroom with many examples of the 3D printed figurines after about 5 minutes we were lead to the cellar and were shown the photobooth.  Ths booth contains 100 Digital SLR cameras all directed to a central point. One by one we stood in the middle of the room and after a flash and all the cameras firing, 100 photographs were taken. These are then stored for the digital process of creating our 3D miniature versions. It actually took longer to fill in the paperwork and order than the process of taking the photos! In about 6 weeks we will hove our mini me's!

After this we hit the tram and went for a look at the DDR museum to get a further idea of what life was like in the former East Berlin.

It is a very interactive museum

Apparently 9 out of 10 East Berliners were into nude activities

Hello?
Next up was time to get a little religious and we ventured across the River Spree to the Berliner Dom or Berlin Cathedral. This is a lovely building with an even better view from the top, and nothing beats a picture.

The rest of the afternoon was spent on and off the public transport, heading to Potsdamer Platz then back to Alexanderplatz and a visit to Alexa Shopping Centre.

Still wondering about the title of todays blog "Do you have bubble wrap?" well this was the underlying question we were asking just about every person we bumped into in Berlin today (slight exaggeration).  Our bags are getting a little heavy at the moment and as we did last time to avoid breakage of both the souvenirs and our backs, it is time to send ourselves a package home. But we need some bubble wrap to make it all safe and protected.  Do you think we have been able to find some? No not as yet, but we do have another two days here so fingers crossed.

We got the laundry done too!
No-one likes doing laundry on holiday!
Tomorrow - The love boat?
