Arezzo

This morning was a short drive to Arezzo, or as Rosalinda puts it, the city. It is by far the least tourist town we have seen and is a nice change to actually see local Italians living in their local town without the hordes of tourists trampling around.

Walking from the train station end of town we walked upward to the top of town.
Whilst walking past many boutique clothing stores, and enough jewellery to cover Katie and her mother a thousand times we were approached by a couple of beggars.  While they were not too much trouble the beggar with the white gloves and white painted face was a little too much. This guy walked right in front of Katie and tried to grab her hand, in the end grabbed her arm with the intent of not letting go. Katie was too quick for him and pulled some Jackie Chan move and was out of his grip before he could say Arrivaderchie.

Further along our walk (and i must give them some credit for the effort) we came across some ladies dressed in white gowns covering all but their faces.  They also had painted faces and tried for our change, but we both held firm and didn't entertain their interests.

The remainder of the town was just fantastic, we took a couple of back streets back and also had a wonderful encounter with a beagle and her italian lady owner. It was just so good to be with a beagle owner, and even though she spoke no English and used no Italian, we were able to advise her we were Australians with two beagles and she told us her beagle was three years old, sniffed and pulled while walking.

Below are some photos from Arezzo.
